If you’re not using web analytics to track the visitors of your website and their behavior, you should. Web Analytics is one of the most important marketing tool and you should look at it on a regular basis to improve your site. Even if you use Google Analytics, it’s a big step. (I haven’t looked at Google Analytics in a long time, but I don’t think they provide real-time stats yet, which means that if you’re on TechCrunch or any major blog, you won’t be able to see the links until a day or so later - but it’s better than nothing.)
Of course, I use I-stats for all of my websites (because I developed it and it’s real-time web analytics.) If you need some info about how web analytics can help you, see it here.
Now, let’s take a look at what I-stats told me about YowTRIP this month:
- We had only spike this month, on July 2nd, which was when we sent out our monthly newsletter, so no major new coverage this month.
- We were visited by people from 88 countries this month. The top five: US, UK, Canada, India, Spain. The “all other countries” audience grew from 25% to 40%.
- From all of our visitor, about 60% leave the site from the home page. This is probably our biggest challenge “What can we do on the home page that will encourage these visitors to look at more information?” What I have done in the past was to provide a lot of information on the home page. The demo video, the interactive map when visitors can see a lot of the city content right there. So, people don’t need to browse through the site to see if this is a site they would like to use or not. Also, keep in mind that we get a lot of visitors from bloggers comparing YowTRIP to other travel services, so a lot of that traffic really wants to just look at the home page. Nonetheless, it’s a statistics we’ll try to improve.
- Our popular cities: Amsterdam, Paris, New York City, Mumbai and Toronto.
Now my favorite part of web analytics: Marketing Analysis!
About 1/3 of our visitors come from search engines (primarily from Google). YowTRIP’s google page rank is 4 and try some of the following search (and look for us on the first page results!):
